Editor note
Seamless hand-applied artisan plaster forms the curving perimeter wall of APL SoHo — a near-circular volume inside the rectangular Prince Street shell. Teardrop-shaped plaster columns reach floor to ceiling; boulder plinths sit in the same finish. The plaster works with the back-lit stretched-fabric ceiling to produce a diffused, gallery-adjacent light register across the amphitheatre form. The material choice is critical to the category argument: artisan plaster at this register is Aesop, Celine, high-end fashion-flagship material — rarely deployed in performance-sneaker retail. The curving geometry is structurally genuine, not applied decoration. The panoptic product-visibility argument is carried in the plaster: stand anywhere in the space and the whole retail volume is visible. Specification is craft-led, formed-in-place, finished by hand. Sourcing is project-led; the plasterers are not publicly named.
